Welcome to the Christian Goths!
As a member of this group, it is understood that for the sake of order and civility, the following rules and guidelines are expected to be followed, and will be enforced as needed by the Admin team.
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Christian Goths group to provide a place for Christians who are living in the Goth community to meet one another, fellowship, and grow in our Christian faith while enjoying the Gothic culture in a setting conducive to the Christian faith
RULES
1. NO POLITICS - We are a group focused on Christianity, and Gothic culture. One can be from any political background or ideology and fit those criteria. This Is not the place to hold political discussions.
2. NO BULLYING - You are not allowed to puncture other people. This is a support channel.
3. NO ABUSIVE LANGUAGE - This can, but does not necessarily entail, the use of cuss words. If you wouldn't say it in Church, don't say it here, there can be children present.
4. DO NOT POST IN CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS! - It is rude.
5. BE RESPECTFUL - This includes, but is not limited to, styles of Goth culture, Church denominations, race, nationality, favorite flavor of ice cream, etc. Treat others as you would have them treat you.
6. NO SOLICITING - Many of us are in bands, or art projects. It is acceptable to share links, and to a modest extent, to promote projects. This rule is in place, and will be enforced, to keep shameless begging off of our Facebook feeds. The administrators will be gentle with this rule, and will, more likely than not, provide an alternative method of promotion if needed.
7. NO SPAM - Activity is encouraged, as is the sharing of music, images, links, etc, but do not post needlessly. The ideas of a maximum post count per day has been discussed, and at this time is not a rule, but it can be. If you have a large album of photos to share, please share a link to your Facebook album, or create an album on an image sharing site such as
www.Imgur.com and share the link.
8. NO MATURE CONTENT - The Gothic subculture shares many fashions and a common history with many kink or other subcultures based on sexuality. It is commonly understood that, even within the Christian Goth community, much of the music or fashion content would be considered inappropriate outside of the Gothic sphere of influence. This is acknowledged and understood by the Admin team. As such, enforcement of this rule pertains primarily to images that exist solely to elicit an erotic response. This rule can also be applied to violence as well. We simply ask that you use discretion when sharing, and remain mindful of others who may have different degrees of struggles than oneself.
ENFORCEMENT
The Admin team will enforce the rules as needed.
Most often the offending post will simply be deleted, and an explanation will be provided as to why.
In rare, or extreme cases, Admins reserve the right to utilize the administrative tools available to them as required.
DOCTRINAL ESSENTIALS
As stated above, we are a group of Christian Goths.
We do not use those titles lightly, to call something Christian is to carry the Name of our Creator.
In light of this, all members of the Christian Goth group are in agreement with a common Creed: The Nicene Creed. The full text of the Nicene Creed is below. If you do not agree with the Nicene Creed, this is not the Group for you. We love you dearly, and will be honored to discuses any questions or comments that may be had. The Nicene Creed was chosen because it is accepted by all three branches of Christianity: Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox. Non-Nicene doctrines, such as the Mormon, or Jehovah Witness doctrines, are considered heresy.
TEXT OF NICENE CREED (ratified in 325 AD at the First Ecumenical Council, predating the compilation of the New Testament by at least 12 years)
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of all things, visible and invisible;
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten from the Father, only-begotten, that is, from the essence of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one essence with the Father, through Whom all things came into being, things in heaven and things on earth, Who because of us men and because of our salvation came down and became incarnate, becoming man, suffered and rose again on the third day, ascended to the heavens, and will come again to judge the living and the dead;
And in the Holy Spirit.
SIMPLE STATEMENTS ON CONTROVERSIAL SUBJECTS
Homosexuality:
Homosexuality is understood to be a sin by the authors of the Old Testament (Lev 18:22), the New Testament (I Cor 6:9-10), the early Church (Didache, Canons of St, Basil 35, 77), the historic Church (Quinisext Synod Canon 87) and modern Church (1978 SCOBA statements). There are no instances within Church tradition, either biblical and extra-biblical, of acceptance of homosexuality. That being said, we are not to despise others. We are not to turn away the homosexual form the doors of the Church, they are a sinner as much in need of Christ and His love as all sinners. Homophobia is as much a sin as racism or xenophobia, we are to love and cherish and minister to all. However, it must be understood that it is, in fact, a sinful life on par with remaining sexually active outside of the bonds of marriage.
Universalism (the belief that all religions lead to God):
When Christ said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life", He meant it. His Death and Resurrection are a gift for all, a gift that must be accepted. If a gift is rejected, it is of no value. Christianity is, as it as always been taught, the only method of salvation.
On The Existence of Extraterrestrial Life:
The existence of aliens would neither confirm or reject any biblical teaching, we would still need Christ, and He would still have come for us. Obviously this statement is a little silly, meant to lighten the mood.
BY-LAWS
1- Officially the Group is not a democracy; the administrators have absolute power, with founder Wayno having First Among Equal rights. In practice, nothing happens without the Group approving.
2 - Selecting new administrators can happen at any time, as the need arises. Administrators have full administrative powers provided by Facebook. Moderators have similar authority over the membership, but are unable to make edits to the infrastructure of the Group. If a member is nominated, or volunteers, they will be taken into consideration. If an administrator is seen as abusing their power, a motion to remove the admin can be easily raised.
3 - You are allowed to post music that is not Christian, but please be considerate.
4 - Rules can be created, edited, or removed at any time and for any reason.
